This email relates to competitors competing at this weekend’s Sydney Water Carnival.

This Saturday is the first of the Sydney Water Carnivals, taking place at Fairy Meadow SLSC (program attached in Documents in TeamApp). We will be looking to our parents to assist with setting up, being officials (each club competing must supply 1 Official per 10 competitors and 1 water safety personnel for every 7 competitors (regardless of whether they are competing in water or just on the sand). We will also need parents to assist with pulling the tents down and returning gear to the trailer.

Craig Morris will be taking the trailer and arriving at the beach at 7am, so we need some volunteer parents to arrive to help pitch the City tents. The carnival commences at 8:30am sharp, we need officials and water safety to arrive for the 8:00am meeting. Can we please ensure all our accredited officials sign on (the Water Safety personnel just outside the clubhouse, the land officials up in the clubhouse). ALL COMPETITORS to be present at 7:30am to collect their race rashies, register and receive wristbands. The team photo will be taken at the team tent at 7:55am. All competitors will need their Age Group written on their arm, so look out for one of the parents with a permanent marker. Please do not forget your yellow rash vest and Wollongong City Cap.

Do bring with you fold up chairs, plenty of food and drink, towels, City apparel (the cap is compulsory) and sunblock. Usually the host club will have a BBQ running, and a coffee van is usually on hand as well. Swimmers may need a swim cap and googles as the water is still a bit cold. Children competing in the Board events will need to collect a board from the trailer and return it at the conclusion of the carnival – there should be enough boards for all water competitors in the trailer.

The team manager will be Michelle Morris.

It is important to realise that it is not possible to do all events, you should scan the program and make your decision on whether to compete in the water events or land events, as in most age groups they do clash. Team relays will be made up from the competitors from U9s and up. PLEASE ADVISE ASAP IF YOU WILL NOT BE PRESENT AT THIS CARNIVAL. We can pull up from 1 age group below to make up a sprint relay. Where possible, team relays will be prepared in advance and displayed in the tent area, if not we will form teams on the day of carnival. If you have any queries regarding the relays, please discuss with Michelle.

Land officials will be Jon Hickman and Brad Healey.

We will require additional officials during the carnival so if you can volunteer some time it will be appreciated. If sprints, it will be assisting with selecting placings, or recording the placings, with flags it might be with recording or assisting with placing the flags. Water Area officials usually assist with selecting the placings or recording. Please note our U8s parents are excused from officiating as it is their first carnival.
